Some patients may develop cloudy vision months or years after cataract surgery due to posterior capsule opacification (PCO), sometimes referred to as a "secondary cataract." YAG laser capsulotomy is a quick and painless laser procedure used to restore clearer vision by creating an opening in the cloudy capsule behind the intraocular lens implant.
When vision becomes cloudy again after cataract surgery, daily activities such as reading, driving, and seeing clearly in different lighting conditions may become more difficult. Early assessment helps identify whether posterior capsule opacification is cause and whether YAG laser capsulotomy may help restore clearer vision and improve quality of life.
If you experience blurred vision after cataract surgery, early assessment by an eye specialist is important to restore vision and improve quality of life.
YAG laser capsulotomy is designed to treat cloudy capsule that forms behind intraocular lens implant after cataract surgery. By creating opening in this cloudy capsule, procedure allows light to pass through more clearly, helping improve sharpness of vision. Procedure is quick and painless, and it is commonly performed as modern outpatient laser treatment.
